2024 Update: Donut Bar, sadly, has closed, but Parma appears to still be open according to Google :).
Parma Italian Roots
Parma Italian Roots serves West Coast Italian fare near the Grayhawk neighborhood of North Scottsdale in a space formerly occupied by Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers. The décor evokes a sense of the Mediterranean, with white walls, blue leather banquets and blue and gold encaustic floor tile throughout. Executive Chef Jason McGrath dishes out casual, yet elegant, dishes made from scratch, from the to-die-for focaccia with whipped black truffle butter, to the panzanella salad, house-made pastas, pizzas and sandwiches. Dinner offers heartier plates such as salmon, beef short ribs, filet mignon and chicken parmigiana. Give your self some extra time to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail at the beautiful bar, such as an Italian Bird, a gin, elderflower, and ginger beer drink with fresh citrus. All juices are fresh squeezed and syrups are house-made. Named for the Emilia-Romagna town of the same name, Parma is a shining star in the field of Phoenix foodie destinations.

Donut Bar Scottsdale
Are doughnuts the new cupcakes? You can see for yourself if you swing by Donut Bar in North Scottsdale, a San Diego based concept that has the West Coast buzzing about its delectable treats. Highlighted by Fodor’s and Thrillist as having some of the best doughnuts in the country, it is only fitting that for a limited time starting July 2, Donut Bar would celebrate America’s birthday with a special line of Independence Day doughnuts, including a version of their famous Unicorn Donut. Donut Bar is known for wowing the public with their distinctive donut creations, like their Grilled Cheese Donut and French Toast Donut, served with butter, jelly and maple syrup. They also have a daily offering of 3-4 vegan options, including the Strawberry Split, with soy based cream, the Sprinkle Cake doughnut and the Crème Brulée Donut. Donut Bar opens at 7 am weekdays and 8 am weekends, and closes at noon, or when sold out. Something else to consider, is on Fridays and Saturdays, they reopen at 5 pm for specialty beer and doughnut pairings. I would agree that these doughnuts are worth the celebration! xoM
