There are a lot of great healthy restaurants in Phoenix, so it’s hard to narrow it down into a single blog post! If you’ve been following along with me, you know that I’m a big fan of balanced eating. By which I mean: you’re just as likely to find a picture of a juicy burger or a decadent milkshake on my feed as you are to see healthy grain bowls and giant salads!
However, for the last few years, I’ve been committed to eating a mostly plant-based diet. Not only does eating healthy and filling my diet with fresh veggies and fruits make me feel great, it also helps me manage my cholesterol, which became a focus for me back in 2018.
Thankfully, I don’t ever feel like I have to sacrifice flavor in favor of health! Today I’m sharing where to eat in Phoenix when you’re craving balance and clean eating!
My top three favorite healthy restaurants
You can always find me lunching on healthy bites at La Grande Orange, Flower Child, and the Original Chop Shop.
La Grande Orange – or LGO – is essentially a household name in Phoenix. The local restaurant has become a staple, with French-inspired breakfasts, a decadent bakery, and healthy salads and sandwiches. I’m obsessed with their kale quinoa salad – I get it at least once or twice a week! To accommodate a plant-based diet, I usually ask for it without cheese. And PRO TIP: they have recently substituted the grapes for golden raisins (paramount to heresy in my book), so ask them to sub grapes for raisins, and ask for an extra salad dressing!
For a spot that the whole family can agree on, nothing beats Flower Child. The fast-casual spot makes everything from scratch with fresh ingredients, fun flavors, and plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Their bowls and wraps are hearty and flavorful, and you can mix and match an array of unique side options with their entrees, like yuzu grilled asparagus and cauliflower “risotto”. I have the Flower Child app on my phone which makes ordering ahead of time to avoid crowds a breeze. The app also gives you occasional discounts and freebies.
Another healthy restaurant in Phoenix that’s become a tried-and-true family favorite is the Original Chop Shop. I love their chopped salads and veggie bowls, like the green curry tofu bowl with quinoa. I also have the app on my phone for quick and easy ordering.
Restaurants in Scottsdale for healthy bites
For quick on-the-go meals, one of the best lunch spots in Scottsdale is Modern Market Eatery. They have the tastiest soups and most filling rice bowls with tons of protein options like sustainable salmon and lemongrass pulled pork.
ProteinHouse has quickly become an obsession for anyone looking for lean lunches and post-gym shakes – and it lives up to its name! Their protein-packed wraps and bowls are delicious and incredibly filling, and their protein pancakes are a delicious lower calorie alternative when you’re craving a sweet breakfast!
If you’re looking to go on a juice cleanse, or simply add healthy juices and tasty smoothies to your daily routine, I can’t recommend Juice Core enough! Stop in for organic, fresh-pressed juices, handmade protein bites, and great teas and lattes. Located in Oldtown Scottsdale, they also deliver locally.
Where to go in Phoenix for healthy options
If you haven’t yet tried Pa’la, you need to go! Their constantly changing menu is centered around fresh seafood, hearty grains, and local vegetables. It’s a tapas-style, wood-fired treat that never disappoints. I think it’s one of the best healthy restaurants in Phoenix, and there is a second location downtown that is perfect for date night or a girls night out!
While there are plenty of decadent and decidedly unhealthy treats at Essence Bakery (I can never resist their almond croissants!) this charming cafe in Arcadia also offers plenty of crave-able healthy options for brunch and lunch – from their delicious house made granola to their rotating lunch specials of organic salads and fresh sandwiches.
