I am taking the weekend to read Big Stone Gap before the big movie premiere on Tuesday, October, 6, right here in Scottsdale, AZ. Big Stone Gap is a novel written by the hysterically funny and witty Adriana Trigiani, author of The Shoemaker’s Wife. As a member of the Arizona Women’s Board, I would love to share with you the details of the event. The Arizona Women’s Board, a non-profit whose goal is to raise money and awareness for kidney health, and Picturehouse have partnered to premiere the film Big Stone Gap at Harkins Scottsdale Fashion Square at the intersection of Camelback and Scottsdale roads. Tickets are on sale now at www.authorsluncheonaz.org and proceeds will benefit Arizona kidney patients.
Writer and director Adriana Trigiani was raised in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, and attended college in Indiana before writing for The Cosby Show and it’s spin-off, A Different World. She wrote Big Stone Gap in 2000, and followed it up with three sequels, Cherry Holler, Milk Glass Moon, and Home to Big Stone Gap. According to the press release, Adriana “brings her best-selling novel Big Stone Gap to the screen in a heartwarming tale of family secrets and self-discovery in a small coal-mining town during the late 1970s. Shot entirely on location in the real Big Stone Gap, Trigiani’s hometown, the film captures the joys, the tribulations and the rewards of life in the Appalachian Mountains.” The award-winning cast includes Ashley Judd, Patrick Wilson, Whoopi Goldberg, John Benjamin Hickey, Jane Krakowski, Anthony LaPaglia and Jenna Elfman.” Ashley Judd, Jenna Elfman, Paul Wilson and Adriana Trigiani will attend the premiere and host a Q&A after the screening. Ticket prices range in price from $50 for general admission, to $150 for a VIP ticket, which includes entrance into the premiere and an after party at Hotel Valley Ho on 6850 East Main St., Scottsdale
