“I looked at it (vodka), sniffed it. It was pretty pungent and smelled like rotten potatoes. ‘Hell, what have we got to lose? Get me some Worcestershire sauce, some tomato juice, and lemon; That ought to kill the smell.’ “
George Jessel, “The World I Lived In”
Whether you believe the Bloody Mary cocktail was named for Mary Tudor who burned hundreds of religious dissenters at the stake in the name of Catholicism, or whether it was invented by comedian George Jessel at New York’s 21 Club, one thing for sure is that at Hash Kitchen in Scottsdale, you don’t have to repeat “Bloody Mary” three times in a mirror for one to appear at your table. If creating a perfect custom Bloody Mary at Arizona’s largest Bloody Mary bar does not strike your fancy, then you can treat yourself to a Mimosa Flight or a Fruity Pebbles Rumchata. And I would be remiss not to mention the food, which is some of the most inventive brunch food West of the Mississippi (I love that phrase). Some of the specialties we tried last week at Hash Kitchen were the Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip Pancakes, the Flat Iron Steak & Eggs, the Green Chili Pork Frittata, and the Cannoli Donuts. Or, you could just stick with the Bloodies (just be sure to call an Uber). Either way, Happy Brunching! xoM
Hash Kitchen is open from 7 AM to 3 PM daily.
