We kicked off March with a spring soirée at our home to celebrate a milestone anniversary. The more I dug into the planning, the bigger the party grew, and next thing I knew I was sitting around a beautifully candlelit table with 30 of our closest friends toasting Hubby and the last 20 years of my life. I felt it was fitting to “go big” as most of the people were new friends that we didn’t know back in the day when we were married at Incarnate Word Chapel in San Antonio, Texas. Also, being Frances’s daughter, I guess it is in my blood. It just wasn’t in her nature to do anything without having it be the best, and (in true Texas fashion) the biggest. So I called in the big guns, my friends George Abrams and Steve Bader. George is a party planner who I met through a dear friend and fellow Texan. George can read my mind so we find communicating effortless. Steve, you may recall from Entertaining in the Desert (Part One), is a flower-arranging and decorating phenom. I couldn’t have entrusted the job to anyone else.
The party didn’t exactly have a theme, but after I found a photo on Pinterest of a table lined with white Moroccan lanterns, the planning took off. I wanted the color to come from the flowers and for there to be hundreds of white lights. Steve worked his magic and I think it was one of the most beautiful evenings. For the food, I thought Middle Eastern cuisine served family-style would be festive. George suggested I meet Snir Mor of Amuse Bouche in Surprise, AZ (have you ever wondered why they called it that?). It was well worth the drive and I loved meeting Snir, a French-trained Israeli-born chef who says that he wants to create dishes that “make people happy.” To be sure, there was much conviviality around the table that night.
Have a beautiful weekend! May be the last cool one here in AZ before the heat of the summer hits!

(PS I am having difficulty formatting my photos. Sometimes they turn out sideways and I do not know why. Please bear with me until I can get this ironed out. Merci)

Great post this morning Marci! Thank you for a wonderful memory the evening of your anniversary. It was magical.
Thanks Bets! Did any of the photos come out sideways? On the cell phone, some of the photos are turning sideways. This technology thing is driving me crazy! xoM
