I obsess over many things, much to the chagrin of Hubby and the kids (just ask about my ballroom dancing kick). Over the past year, I have become a juice fanatic. I feel if I indulge in things like triple-cream brie, ossobuco Milanese, jalapeño cheeseburgers, and chiles poblano, that I both want and need to balance my diet with clean, fresh choices that leave my body feeling healthy. Plus, at this stage in my life with three young kids, convenience and speed are essential. So the fastest way to increase my vegetable and nutrient intake is to ingest a 16-oz. concoction of fruits and vegetables. Juice Core, located in Old Town Scottsdale is my go-to for organic, fresh-pressed fruits and vegetables.
Using a hydraulic press, Juice Core makes over 20 different fresh juices served in 16-ounce bottles (priced at $10 and $12), but on any given day, the shop will feature about seven different drinks based on what’s in season.
Some of our favorite juice flavors include:
Mother Earth — Juice Core’s signature blend of kale, spinach, romaine, cucumber, celery, fennel, green apple, parsley, lemon, and ginger.
Kick Some Acid — green apple, lemon, and ginger.
Strawberry Fields — a seasonal favorite with strawberry, cucumber, green apple, mint and coconut water.
24 Karat — golden beets, carrots, green apple, celery, cucumber, pineapple, lemon, turmeric and ginger.
I started my obsession with Juice Core by trying a juice cleanse. There are three cleanses from which to choose. I like to call ahead to order all the juices before the cleanse in order to pick them all up at once. That way my resolve won’t falter halfway through because I have all these juices in the fridge for which I just paid a pretty penny, and I know I’ll have to finish them all.
In addition, there is fresh almond milk, an almond milk latte (my latest obsession), and one or two elixirs (smaller, super-concentrated juice formulas, $6). Because moms wanted smaller size juice bottles for their kids, Juice Core also offers 8-ounce juices for $6-$7. If you find that you need something in your stomach other than liquid, Juice Core offers a small selection of smoothies, salads and sandwiches.
Where do you find it? I usually drive my little coche on over to Stetson Dr. in Old Town Scottsdale to stock up on juices. If that is not convenient, Juice Core offers delivery within a certain radius, and I have seen that Postmates (http://www.postmates.com) delivers as well. Hope your holiday weekend was great! xoM
